My son was awarded a 4-year AROTC scholarship pending medical qualification in the first board. He learned through the DoDMERB website a couple weeks ago that he was medically disqualified due to Hyperhidrosis. His only knowledge of the dq was the DoDMERB website (he never received a letter or anything). He's not really sure who to contact - he's called his person at DoDMERB, ROTC at the university where he plans to attend, and the Brigade Administrator who told him that a waiver request has been submitted (but there is no indication on the DoDMERB website).

It's so frustrating not knowing the process or whom to contact. My son emailed a letter from the diagnosing doctor to the DoDMERB helpdesk (but again, no indication on the DoDMERB website that they received anything). We know they are not the Waiver Authority, but it's our understanding that the WA will access anything submitted there. Really he just wants to confirm the waiver has been submitted and know that his medical statement and records will be seen by the WA.

We know it's a waiting game, but I'd hate for our lack of knowledge/understanding to hold things up.

FYI....DoDMERB will only show "DQ Pending Waiver Submission/Review". The Waiver Authority, in your case I believe is the Command Surgeon at Cadet Command (where your son's Scholarship came from). No way to know other than your DS's ROTC Portal may show "Waiver Submitted/Medical Review" (when an actual waiver has been requested) or when it is approved will show "Waiver Granted" or something like "Waiver Denied" or "Medically Disqualified". Check DoD Instruction 6130.03 to see if that DQ is listed, then contact Cadet Command and check to see if it can be waived.

Your son should telephone his DOMEREB technician (they are assigned by first letter last name, a link to contact information is on the DoDMERB home page).
Do not send any unsolicited information. If they want something they will ask for it.
Important to remember, your son has already been selected. They will waive him if they can.

Relief at last! A week ago my son was notified via email, and on DoDMERB a day or two later, that he was granted a waiver!

I joined this forum last week and have learned a lot.

My DS would go through the similar challenges but your relieving news make everyone happy!

What a great result for your DS! Congratulations!
