DoDMERB DQ condition -- any chance of getting a waiver?

Anyone have experience with waivers for bicuspid valve/MILD aortic dilation? I run 3-10 miles a day and have NO physical symptoms... I am a candidate for several SA's and ROTC fellowships this year and beginning the DoDMERB review process (submitting my DODMETS this week)...

Would appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

I am in the exact same boat as you, I run and lift consistently with this condition. I also have been diagnosed with the same aortic bicuspid valve issue. I am now in the waiver process also. Have you gotten any updates?

This brings up an interesting question. I believe that people with a bicuspid aortic valve have a greater likelihood of heart problems and need for surgery down the road than somebody with a normal valve. But that could be decades in the future, long after someone is likely to have finished his or her military career. To what extent, if any, does this factor into the decision about a waiver? How differently might it be viewed than a condition that could have much more immediate impact?

Thanks -- I am still in limbo. In waiver process for two service academies and ROTC. What about you -- have you received any updates since this post?
