DS went for his DODMERB exam last week and is scheduled to go for his eye exam tomorrow. My understanding is that there should be no cost for either exams. Last week's exam went fine and there was no mention of payment or insurance cards. Today DS got a call from the Concorde office regarding his eye exam. He was texting me while I was at work asking me what kind of coverage we have for eye care? I still have yet to talk to him bc he's at work. All he said was that they told him the eye exam is not covered and it would be $110. Does this sound correct? Is the eye exam different than the other exam, interns of billing? The exam is tomorrow afternoon so any quick replies and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Eye exam should be covered too. You should clarify with Concorde/optometrist that he’s taking the eye exam FOR ROTC/service academy.

My DS had his exams in July and we did not pay for either. Once we handed over the paperwork, the doctors offices seemed to know what to do.

My DS did this last year and NO you do not pay for the eye exam. When you called to make the appt they should have known what it was for and that there was to be no payment from you. I would have your DS or you call the eye exam place to reiterate what this is for. Also have your DS call Concorde too if need be.

Biggest DQ I believe is if its not correctible or if prior Lasik etc has been done. Different vision standards apply for pilot slots of course.
