Dodmerb for USCGA

My DD got an email for Dodmerb. When must it be completed? Meaning the last date it must be submitted?

The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) determines the medical fitness of all applicants to the five United States federal service academies. The names of applicants deemed competitive for an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy (or one of our preparatory school programs) will be provided to DoDMERB once they have completed the application process. Within two weeks, you will receive instructions from DoDMERB (or their contractor Concorde, Inc.) about how to schedule your medical examination.

Do not delay. Schedule your physical exam immediately upon receipt of your scheduling information. If your initial medical exam is not completed by April 15, or if you are not found qualified by May 15, your application may be withdrawn from further consideration.

You do not need to take a second medical exam if you have already taken one for another service academy or ROTC scholarship program. The medical exam is valid for two years, but you must submit a statement of present health and report any injuries which occurred since the medical exam date.

Okay. Do you have a choice as to the date?
Yes it was like scheduling a Reg doc appointment. The time did conflict with school and kiddo had to drive into the city where we met up for the appointments. To my surprise it was near where I was working at the time.

....one more piece of the puzzle out of the way :)

If my DD is overweight by 2 or 3 pounds on the DodMerb due to muscles. Is it over or does she have until R Day to make the weight?

If your daughter is extended an appointment, and she was out of compliance with height/weight at DoDMERB, her appointment will be "conditional" with a date by which she has to be within height/weight compliance or the appointment will expire. She will still have to again be in compliance with height/weight standards on R-Day. Every year there are instances of appointees who show up for R-Day out of compliance, and they are sent home.

I am hoping those who had asked this question do come back and reply to my concern here. So did your son or daughter get in? My daughter applied in October and received the DoDMERB email in early November. We are hoping it is good news and that she might have cleared one hurdle. She really wants to attend the CGA and actually gave up the early action/decision application deadline to Virginia Tech Engineering. Thanks.

Always have a solid plan B. Many more DoDMERB requests go out than final offers that are given. My DS went down this path twice with no success other than passing DoDMERB. The good news is that your DD will know by December 24th one way or another so will have time to work on plan B if needed.
Good luck.

In the DoDMERB qualification letter my DS received on his DoDMERB portal (yay :)) it says on the second explanatory page, "Programs may not ask for your medical status if you do not meet the minimum admissions standards of that program" so it would be a good sign to get the DoDMERB email, but as Chuck20 said, there would be a lot more DoDMERB requests sent out then final offers. Still, it's a step in the right direction and a very necessary step!
