So, I was offered a conditional LOA for the Naval Academy Prep School class of 2023 (yay!), but a month after I received the conditional appointment, DODMERB medically disqualified me.
Their reason for the DQ me was because I have had a history of general anxiety. I still have anxiety, but it’s performance based. I worry about my school grades. I mean, who doesn’t worry about their grades? I find it quite ridiculous that I was disqualified because I have never taken any medication to treat it, nor have I had to go to any type of hospital. I even got a psychiatric consult done to prove that I’m mentally stable.
Anyway, since I have an LOA, I was automatically placed in the waiver process. Unfortunately, I’ve been waiting for a month on my status and it’s just about eating me alive. It’s quite nerve-wracking (yet it’s the military, so I’ll have to get used to this) and I’m afraid I won’t be granted the waiver.
Does anyone have any advice on this situation? Are my chances of getting a waiver slim? Anything will help.
