Hello,
So I was wondering if any females who have taken their medical exam can tell me if I need to reschedule my exam since I got my menstrual cycle literally two days before I am supposed to go to the doctor. I was wondering if this is going to affect any results or limit what gets done, and if I need to call and reschedule. Thanks!

Not sure how it'll affect the urine test, but that's the only iffy part. Everything else is for hearing, vision, etc. It says on DODMETS not to go 5 days before or after it, but I think they just want to make sure it doesn't affect the results somehow. Hope this helps!

Thank You!

Try calling the local testing physician/center and explain your situation. The instructions also said something about not strenuously exercising for 48 hours prior (or something completely unrealistic for varsity athletes). DD called to clarify this and they were very helpful.

Not all testing locations do the urine test. It is no longer required but some locations still do the urine test.

I agree with redear1998 - call the local testing center.

The location my DD went to for her medical exam did not do a urine test. And, somewhere on the exam website it states that it is ok to continue with exam during a menstrual cycle. The exam was not at all what we expected, very brief and casual. Hearing test, blood pressure, listen to heart & lungs, looked in ears, they did do a breast exam (female provider), looked extremely briefly at her female anatomy, asked a couple of general questions and that was it. Doctor did not share ANY information with us. Wouldn't even tell us her blood pressure results. I sensed she just wanted to check whatever boxes on her form and be done with it. Very strange. But, hinted that she thought everything was ok. The eye exam was at a completely different location and the doctor was much more personable and interested DD's plans. Hope this helps alleviate any fears for the females in the group.

As Godwilling2021 stated above, my DD's test was also fairly brief and no urine test required. She was holding it for the test, so when they told us we could go, we asked about the urine test. They said it was no longer required. However, I've heard several people tell us that they had to have it done, in addition to a full pelvic exam (DD's friend who went to a different location actually had to spread her legs. We were surprised since DD's was just a quick peek wihout taking off the undergarment). From all that I've read and heard, it seems to REALLY depend on the location and the doctor. By the way, our location only had male doctors. If you plan on keeping your appointment with your mentrual flow, keep in mind that it is a possibility. My DD (very reserved) personally would've definitely rescheduled to avoid the awkward moment.

You are only asked to if your application is complete. And you are deemed viable. Not every applicant is asked to have it done.

The PFE is part of the application process. You can apply for early action in your senior year. Or if you go to AIM this summer you can do a PFE then and it can be used for your application.

My DS was patiently waiting well over a month for his gym teacher to submit his PFE to complete his application so the checkboxes in Bears Den were completed right before the Jan 15th deadline. Does anyone know if all the DoDMerb requests have been sent out? If he hasn't received an email from Concorde by now should we just throw in the towel and keep the focus on Plan B?

Most have gotten an email from Concord. Have heard of anyone getting forms in the mail.

Have they reviewed you DS file? Also did he contact his AO?
No, his file is not under review yet. He emailed his AO last week just to update her on his recent leadership activities and volunteering events, not in reference to DoDMerb

I know someone who received his DoDMERB request just this week, so no, not all requests have been sent out. He also submitted very close to the deadline.

Hang in there! It ain't over until April 1, which isn't that far from now.

Did you trying logging into DODMETS? DS never got email, he was just already in the system. He applied about the same timing for a similar reason.

My DS took the DODMerb in early January for another service academy. Will the CGA automatically be notified that he was already qualified?
