DODMERB Medical Status question

I have completed my appointments and on DODMETS it says that my case was closed as of 12/29/2022. I go on the DodMerb website and it says my current medical status is "awaiting receipt of initial medical exam" How long should it take from here to get everything complete 100%?

That is a good question. I believe they are working through everything as it was received. My DD has the same status and her exams were submitted to DODMERB on 12/19/22.

My DD’s exams were sent to DoDMERB on 12/8, we are showing the same status.

My DS exams went from DODMETS to DODMERB on 11/21 and they just showed “exams received” this past Friday. I know they are working through the backlog, but they were down for 15 weeks. It may take a while….

You may want to follow up on these. DS's were sent on October 4, and he was notified of disqualification and waiver requested the first week of January.

I will add that, I have been told, the academies have asked that they prioritize those candidates whose offers of appointment are waiting for medical clearance (LOAs, Principal Nominees, and Slate Winners.) They do this so that the academies can keep the offer cycle going properly. Until those candidates get offers, and have time to accept or decline - they cannot offer those unused spots to other candidates. Timing is critical this year due to the DODMERB outage, and those first categories need to be cleared to begin working on NWL candidates as soon as possible. Remember, they cannot even start of the waiver process for candidates until there is an initial DODMERB determination. It took my other son almost three months for his waiver to come through last year (USMA.)

Sorry to ask here, my son got offered USAFA Prep School pending DODMerb but its unchecked on the checklist. When we try to click Contact the technician link it has a 404 error. When he contacted the Admissions they said just to wait for an email. Is this the case? Because we have been seeing here where others are done since November. But my DS hasn't done anything just his Physical FItness Test etc and he did receive an email asking for height and weight. But that's it. Whats the next step just to wait for them? Thanks so much!

He can try logging into DoDMETS, the civilian contractor used by DoDMERB to coordinate with applicants and contract providers. If DoDMERB has received his file from USAFA, then he might be able to log into DoDMETS (different login than DoDMERB) using the new user guidance. If he can get in, he should create a profile, change his password, and he should see forms and information.

Go back to the DoDMERB TRICARE site. Go back to the Contacts section in the left-hand menu, scroll down past the names, and read the info at the bottom about what happens when. The DoDMETS link is there. The regular timing and sequencing has been messed up due to the DoDMERB site outage, so why not test-drive logging into DoDMETS in advance of any email?

And bask in the pleasure of knowing a USAFAPS opportunity has been offered, and a seat on 2028 is likely waiting upon successful completion of all requirements.

Ok we tried with the info on the DoDMETS website for first-time users and it didn't work. I don't think my DS has to accept first but his letter said to do the Medical ASAP. I guess it's the default template for their letter.

Did you look for an email in a spam, or trash folder? Even going a while back? Maybe it got overlooked??

I just went to the DoDMERB Contacts page, clicked randomly on 5 different technicians, and was able to open up a draft email to each of them. No 404 error. Your son could clear his cache and try a different browser.

What luck has he had with calling the DoDMERB phone number on the Contacts page? They can tell him if they have his file from USAFA. If they don’t, time to go back to Admissions.

We just tried to go to the Contacts from the DoDMERB page and it was able to open from there. But the link that was on his AF profile "Links and Documents" tab - Medical had the 404. But now, I went back to check it and that link from his AF Profile is now gone. We did open a Support ticket for it. But thank you we will contact the technician from the DoDMERB site and ask if they have his information/packet. Just FYI, we haven't seen any email in SPAM, Trash, and Promotions folders either. (I searched "Medical" and "DoDMerb"). Thank you,
