VIA my application to USNA I experienced some troubles with getting medically qualified and was awarded a waiver from USNA for the issues. Based on past experiences, is NROTC (generally) more or less relaxed in policy than USNA?

I know that the waiver wouldn't necessarily be "carried over" per say, but is it common for individuals to be wavered by USNA and get the same treatment by the NROTC officials?

Thank you!

If you are found medically qualified through USNA, it's all the same through DoDMERB, so it will "carry over."

For example, I was found medically qualified for USNA in December, and when I was choosen for a NROTC scholarship in March, I didn't need to go through the process again, bc I was qualified already.

What was the process of informing NROTC that you were DODMERB qualified?

Fastfood - Being medically qualified by DoDMERB and being medically disqualified but granted a waiver are two very very different things. Waivers are granted by the ascension authority (eg USNA or NROTC). There are occasions where USNA granted a waiver and NROTC did not. The reverse is true as well. You are correct that the DoDMERB will carry over, but that will say 'disqualified' and a waiver may or may not be granted. Hope this makes sense.

Hockeygirl - one never knows if NROTC will also grant the waiver. My understanding is that USNA can have so many waivers for "this" and so many waivers for "that". I'm sure NROTC is the same way. So, much will depend on "numbers" and how many need those waivers. Good luck. If you were good enough to get a waiver from USNA I expect your good enough to get one from NROTC, but there is no guarantee.
