Hey all,

I was awarded the Marine option of the NROTC scholarship from the spring selection board (so late March) and was disqualified around early May. I submitted all of the additional medical information asked of me for a waiver on June 3rd, but I’ve been reading that DoDMERB is not on a timeline and I could potentially not have my waiver for school to start! Is this true and is there anything I can do to find out sooner?
Talk to your Unit Command, they may be able to give you more info. But, Generally speaking DoDMERB IS NOT on your schedule. Numerous posters here did not get their waiver approved in time for upcoming Classes. Numerous more never got their waivers approved at all. You should not count on money that you don't have, or IMHO select a school you cannot possibly afford without the Military ROTC money. ALWAYS have a PLAN B ready that is acceptable, Waivers are not a given, have a backup plan ready.

Also, speak with your new Command, many schools and their ROTC Leadership have fantastic relationships and may be able to offer you a one year academic scholarship pending your waiver. That is why you need to speak with your command regarding your situation BEFORE you start a school that you could end up owing a lot of money to IF your waiver is not granted. JMHO;)
