Maybe some past people who have went through the DoDMERB process can potentially comment here:

I just scheduled my Physical Exam, and the lady I spoke to stated: You can expect to be here for a couple hours; hence a while....

What exactly consists of this exam? I thought it wouldn't take more than a hour?

Anyone who can pitch in their responses, would be greatly appreciated.

That is the appropriate thing for her to say, so that you don't cut your schedule too short for subsequent events/appointments on your schedule. It is a comprehensive medical exam, more complex then any sports or high school medicals you may have.

Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" Read that document AND the instructions on the www.dodmets.com :wiggle:

From a user end, our experience.…both my guys waited in the waiting room longer than they were back for exams. I went bc they were under age. My oldest examiner requested I go back with. It was pretty basic, imo. Not much different than a sports physical. Maybe it’s different with different providers. But this is also not something to worry about.

I stepped out for probably alcohol/mental/other questions and private checks. He provided a UA (not required anymore), and he was done. Maybe an hour woth each boy, each time. 2nd child went back on his own but said it wasnt much different than his sports physicals.

The exam takes as long as it takes. But there is also the waiting, schedule delays, etc that occur unexpectedly. Especially in current times, places are understaffed in general. This could easily affect your exam timeframe.

Time given to you sounds about right, but It can vary. Some providers are more thorough than others. Some are running late so you may have to wait some time after your scheduled appt. It also depends on the level of complexity of your medical history.

My DD may have been an hour, or a little bit longer. I went with her, but I stayed in the waiting room while she was in the back. They did the head to toe exam on her, to include giving a hearing test. No labs were done.

When she was done, we sat a big longer in the waiting room because the front desk lady was QC’ing the DoDMERB forms to make sure all were complete before sending them over to CivTeam. My DD wanted copies of all the forms for her own files so that’s the reason why we waited for them to QC the paperwork.

The exam with the optometrist was on another day. I think hers took about an hour too by the time she checked in and left with a copy of the paperwork in her hands.

Anything like blood-tests or urine-analysis? I'm not worried about them, I just want to prepare myself in all honesty...

No labs at all on the initial exams:wiggle:

I've been to MEPS and DoDMERB.

DoDMERB is a cake walk. I spent maybe 5 minutes doing a physical exam, 10 minutes doing hearing testing... and maybe like 45 minutes going over the paperwork with my doctor.

Ah, the memories.

Don't sweat it.
