DoDMERB process

So I’m done with just about everything and I finished the DoDMERB exams as of last Tuesday. It says that Concorde got my examinations and are processing them. Do they need to be processed before Jan. 31 (the USNA application deadline)? Thanks.

No. Assuming you have a nomination and the rest of your application completed, USNA will review your application. DoDMERB is a parallel process to admissions. As long as your application reads “complete pending review,” you have no need to worry.

It has been this way for a long time on the USNA portal, and he has already been medically qualified for his USMMA application....

I had a very similar issue...qualified for USCGA but USNA still said “Under DoDMERB Review.” I reached out to my BGO and admissions counselor and they both said I was showing up as qualified. They emphasized that DoDMERB is a separate action.

The DoDMERB website said I was under review but my USNA portal, however, had no more required actions. I cannot speak to whether or not your DS is good to go. Reach out to his BGO or admissions counselor to confirm if he shows up as qualified in their system.

That means that USNA still has to change the DoDMERB status to complete. If the DoDMERB interface (different website, different login credentials) says that your DS' exam is complete and there's a date on the completion, then it is indeed complete and USNA just hasn't updated the Candidate Information System (screenshot you posted). It would not be out of line for your DS to contact his Admissions Counselor to ask if his DoDMERB exam is complete in the system (and just hasn't been updated online yet).

The "Complete Medical Qualification Exam" can mean anything in the continuum of you need to set up a your DODMERB exam through DODMET to your exam is completed but is getting reviewed at DODMERB.

My DD had that designation for months after completing her DODMERB exam. Issue was it was during the time DODMERB was transitioning to a new database/program for processing exams. She was qualified by DODMERB, but their system wasn't talking (or sending updates) to USNA. Hence, the USNA still designated her as needing an exam.

So have you DS check the DODMERB portal. If it says qualified for USNA, then it's an issue of the info isn't getting to the USNA. It'll get there eventually. If the portal says the exam is still getting reviewed for USNA by DODMERB, then that's the reason for why the USNA portal is saying a medical qual exam is needed.

I was just thinking that it was taking a long time considering he has been cleared for the USMMA already, guess there is different standards?

Standards are about 99% the same. In general, all the services use the DODI but there are certain standards that are service-specific.

He was 3Q at USMMA in early December. The DodMerb portal just updated this morning that he is Qualified at USMA(not reflected in the admissions portal yet) and still under review for USNA.

The tech told my daughter about the switchover in programs/database and it affected what was showing for her in terms of USAFA and USNA. In the same email, she did confirm she was also qualified for both USAFA and USNA too. Tech told my DD to be patient but she didn't know when the fix would happen. The correspondence may have been in late Sept/early Oct. It wasn't until early Nov that her status for USAFA and USNA changed to qualified in the DODMERB portal.

Ah. Patience! How are we, as adults, supposed to be good examples for our kids to have patience (especially in the college admissions process and super-especially with the SA admissions process) when don't have it ourselves?

At least I can rest easy over the weekend now.
