Hello! My son has been listed “under waiver review” for over a month now in the DODMERB system. He has received a conditional appointment from USCGA (pending medical waiver) and is listed as “pending review” in USNA (for the same reason). He has tried to get the one DQ dismissed as it is not a chronic issue, just a one time sports related incident that occurred last November. He wrote a detailed response to his case manager at DODMERB and the response was “it happened in the last 6 months, so therefore you are DQed”. End of story. Is there a formal rebuttal process that he can peruse?
As a mother I feel horrible because I am the one who made him go to the dr after he got hurt, just to make sure it wasn’t something serious. It was not and he was back on the field the next week! Now we are in this limbo, waiting for a medical waiver instigated by the service academies, which say they should have an answer by May 15. All other colleges require a commitment by May 1. He is ready to commit to a SA NOW, but can not! Any suggestions for how to expedite this final step?
