DODMERB Remedial Question

Just received an update to my dodmerb application (finally). My files are now in there but it is waiting for my remedial. What specifically is it asking for? I can’t find much info on it. Do I just type up a document answering it’s questions, print it out, sign it and email it as a pdf? I found the letter stating what I should do but i’m not sure how strict it is on how I should write it. (since it doesn’t require a physician)

Also how long will it take to review the remedial? This is my final step and i’ve been waiting forever (case closed over 5 weeks ago), so i’m anxious. Thanks

Depends on the Remedial. There are many different codes. Some can be as easy as a personal statement, some can be another appointment, while others can be a waiver request that the individual program (Academy, ROTC, etc.) needs to review and either approve or deny. Can't help more without knowing the remedial code.

ones for nosebleeds and ones for very minimal scaring. both don’t require seeing a physician

Some AMI’s require a physician, and some don’t. Per your instructions, yours doesn’t. Answer the question(s) they have asked, and follow instructions.

Yes, some are as simple as that, believe it or not.

It will be added to your file, evaluated, and you will be found medically qualified or disqualified, and then it’s on to the SA for consideration.

What do you do? Get your stuff sent in, per instructions, and then wait.

Sounds good, thank you for the help.

How would I know if I need to submit more information? I was initially disqualified, but now my status is "Under Waiver Review", and the letter doesn't indicate what information I need to provide.

"Under Waiver Review" simply means that your info is available for the programs you applied to so they can initiate a waiver. When a Waiver has been requested usually your portal changes to "waiver requested" I believe. When that happens the program medical staff is reviewing your DoDMERB records and will initiate any request for AMI or other medical needs. Just hang in there and wait to hear something, if you are competitive or have an LOA a waiver is usually initiated pretty quickly. ANY action on your part will be posted or they will notify you. Good Luck!!

Thank you so much!

I have another question. In my USAFA portal, my current medical status reads "Remedial". What does that indicate? Does that mean they are requesting a waiver? Or does it mean that DoDMERB has sent my exams?

It means that when USAFA last pulled medical status from DODMERB there was an AMI to be cleared up. If this was already cleared with DODMERB, you need to wait until USAFA pulls your status again. USAFA will read waiver if they have requested one for a disqualifying medical issue after all AMIs are resolved.

Got it ok! So if my DODMERB portal reads "Under Waiver Review", does that mean USAFA still needs to pull that medical status? Or does Under Waiver Review in DODMERB translate to Remedial in USAFA?

When USAFA pulls next time the USAFA portal will read disqualified until they request a waiver, IF they request a waiver. As I understand DODMERB will stay at waiver status until USAFA approves and sends approval to DODMERB.
I'm in same status. DODMERB has cleared my AMI. Hopefully USAFA pulls a status update this week.

This is assuming there is a disqualifying medical issue in your DODMERB file. If it was just an AMI paperwork issue, expect USAFA portal status to change directly to qualified.
