Ok so I am applying to the academies and there might be a slight trouble with dodmerb. both academys say they can get it waived. I am also applying to ROTC programs, do the ROTC programs hold the same medical standards as the academys? If I am disqualified to the academys will I also be disqualified from an ROTC scholarship?

I am not possitive but each ROTC has it's own standards which may or may not be that of the academy they are attached to if I am not mistaken. (For example the Naval Academy and NROTC do not allow color-bindness but the Marine Corps option does)

OK, now we'll have the REAL answer. Service Academies, ROTC, enlisted, etc all have the same medical accession standards. The only difference in these standards between the Services are vision. All other standrads are the same for Appointment, Enlistment, and Induction (DoDI 6130.4). Now, back to the original posting:

Until we know what the issue is and how it effects you, I guarantee, that the actual waiver authorities of any Service Academy have not stated they can/will waive a condition, injury, illness, or disease, that hasn't been reviewed by DoDMERB yet. "Someone else" may have said that, but not the folks that hold the authority. Therefore, plse email me at Larry.Mullen@ dodmerb.tma.osd.mil and I can give you an accurate answer as to what your status would be for DoDMERB.:thumb:
