If you enter a SA, you will encounter random urinalyses and unit sweeps, which will occur throughout your time on AD. Those tests are for prohibited substances.

Yes I am aware of that, but I was wondering about the DODMERB urine test.

No urine test for DS this cycle either. Two years ago, big brother actually had 3, even though many people were posting their child didn't have one.

You never know...

Those tests are hard to study for;)
Also they used to be called Dole tests after Elizabeth Dole who instituted the test for teachers during her stay in the Cabinet (think she was HEW).

Urinalysis not required.

Too many false positives leading docs to go down lots of rabbit holes for nothing. Lots of costs involved not to mentioned unnecessary anxiety for the applicants and parents.

@Matty01, well of course they don't tell you much. MA said the hearing test looked great, no abnormalities were noted, there was no urine test. A pretty simple exam, pretty much an in depth physical. They didn't want our records related to the only surgery he ever had. Said to wait and see if DODMERB requests then we can submit at that point. Seeing DS in surgical gown was comic though. Eye exam tomorrow.

My DD had her exam last week and she did not have a urine test which I thought was kind of odd. I assumed it would be part of the exam.

You will take plenty of urine tests going forward. I know of one that went home last year after a random. First one on IDay!

Well, back in the day...

"Captain, your urine looks a little dark. Clearly, you haven't been drinking enough."

"Doc, I can assure you that I spent all night drinking, and had another this morning, for good measure."

Holy crap, hard to believe after going through all the work and earning a nom and appointment that someone would be that reckless and throw it all away. Sad.

@Matty011, you seem excessively worried about a "urine test"? My suggestion is to not worry, if you have prescription meds that is not a worry as long as you have a prescription. If you are worried about something else, that you shouldn't be doing, my suggestion would be to stop doing whatever it is you are doing. I don't judge, therefore you can do whatever you would like, but as others here are saying, you WILL be tested upon entry, and often while you are in the military, for as long as you are in the military. A urine test is nothing to worry about unless you are doing something that you shouldn't be doing, so as long as that is the case, no worries!..:)

Yes...agree. I tell all my kids, to not only have a designated driver, but to have a designated BUDDY. Take turns actually watching out for your homies. Best decisions are not made when under the influence of different things. Ie: a person may do something they would never do if not for the inhibitions thrown by the wayside from alcohol. Have a responsible buddy for the evening.

Very sad indeed.

I was only curious about a urine test so our DS could logistically plan out how much water to drink and whether or not a rest room visit on a 90 minute drive to appointment would be a good idea. So frustrating when you have to do a urine test and you cannot close the deal!!!!
