Dodmerb

If you have applied to the USCGA, you should have already had your DoDMERB physical. They are meeting weekly to determine who to admit, or who to give an LOA to waiting for a waiver. You application should be complete by now, if it isn't I am not real sure you will have enough time to get appointed in April.

But they have to send you the Dodmerb request. So are you saying if you haven't gotten anything yet they are most likely not considering you?

@njrotcmom1035 I am not sure what you are asking? When our DS applied to CGA, within three weeks of him finishing his application, he received word to contact two exam sites, one for the eyes, and one for everything else. He submitted his completed application Oct 2nd and had his DoD exams October 18th. It then took a month for DoDMERB to get the exams and enter them into the record. It took another month for the Qualified status to appear.

My point here is, I guess I don't understand just what you are asking? If you are saying your child has not even been scheduled for the initial exams I would think he/she is in trouble. The RA appointments are due out in early April, and if your son/daughter does not have the exams completed by now, I am not sure you can complete the process in time for the Admissions Board to consider he/she for appointment in 6 weeks. I hope I am missing something here? Also if you son/daughter has head their exams, DoDMERB will not directly contact you. On the DoDMERB site will be one of three things: 1. You are Qualified, and it will list the programs you are applying to, 2. They need AMI, either in a statement or doctors medical info (a Remedial Status), or 3. You are Disqualified and the reason why. Make sure your child checks the DoDMERB website for their status and if ANYTHING is pending. And these letters are accessed on the DoDMERB site to download and print and are electronically sent to any programs your DS/DD applied to.

So he never received anything on how or when to schedule a physical. We just looked on the Dodmerb website and it says the Coast Guard Academy added him to Dodmerb on 1/19. He is emailing his AO now to find out why he was never contacted about this and how he can quickly schedule his exam. He shouldn't have any issues so hopefully he will get it done in time.

The same thing happened to me, I applied for EA and had never received a DoDMERB email until 3 days after January 15th.

I just went onto Dodmerts and he is listed on there too. I was able to get the info for him to call and make an exam appointment. Don't know what happened on why he never got anything on how to do this but at least we found it.

your son was probably sent an email that went to spam.

I literally had my son do a search through spam Sunday and he had an email from October and then December. So frustrating we never saw it nor did AO mention anything. We had to get it reset and appointments are now set. Doing medical today and eye appt Monday. So stressed that he won't get everything in on time but nothing we can do except hope and pray. I didn't know we could just search ourselves or I would have done that.

DoDMETS does the initial scheduling of exams I think, not DoDMERB, that is the review Board for the exams that get sent to them. If Your DS/DD has an email (like your DS, that filters out unsolicited emails as spam) it is difficult to realize you missed something. I would recommend at this point he contact Admissions or if he can't get through, maybe his Admissions Partner locally, they can usually get through to the AO's and let them know that he never got the initial email from DodMETS and he is working fast to remedy that situation. Admissions at CGA seems short staffed always, and with Early Action, then Regular Admissions they cannot ferret out those candidates who never got their medical, they may just think that candidate decided to go someplace else.

Please don't take this as gospel! I only know what our sons' tell me, but they have both said if you miss that email, you won't know how to schedule your exams, and DoDMETS is so busy sometimes they fail to generate reminder emails, or they go into that same spam folder. Hope I helped...Best of Luck to your son!

Admissions makes appointment decisions irrespective of DoDMERB status. Many applicants are tendered conditional appointments dependent on DoDMERB qualification, and sometimes due to DQs and the waiver process, that DoDMERB "qualified" status doesn't come until very late in the game.

Thank you that is what I thought also. They will still consider someone even if their DoDMERB isn't finished.

After looking it up on DodMets my son was able to make an exam appointment for this Friday. Hopefully he will have time to get it all done now.
Thanks everyone for all the replies that helped me realize that he should have gotten something by now. It sent me into investigation mode and we were able to figure it out and get it done. I really love this forum it is full of valuable information.
