Has anyone gotten word to have this yet? How much of the application do they want finished before setting this up?

50% before the USMMA Admissions office will download your name to DoDMERB to start the process

Okay. I thought someone would have been posting about getting notification about this by now but maybe no one has gotten it yet.

As of 21 Aug, 155 have been downloaded from USMAA. So, if you have specific questions, ask them :wiggle:

On the application (for USMMA) there's a specific question asking if there is a history of asthma. If I hit yes am I auto rejected? I haven't experienced symptoms since I was like 12ish-13

Most important thing to do is to tell the truth. A common mistake is when candidates self-diagnose. If you actually were diagnosed by a doctor, that is much different than if a relative or teacher told you you had asthma. If a doctor diagnosed you with asthma, your answer to the question must be yes, and DoDMERB will probably want more information. You can be proactive by starting to gather your medical records. Even if DoDMERB issues a disqualification based on a history of asthma, your quest is not over. If you are a competitive candidate, the academy and/or ROTC programs you apply to can request more information and/or testing to determine whether they will offer a waiver for your history of asthma. This process is a marathon, and you can only control so much. Good for you for getting your application done early so you have time to wade through the waiver process if that is what you have to do. Good luck!

The question is clearly written Do you currently have or have a history of. Based on what you say above, the answer is nothing but YES. Then you can provide an explanation :wiggle:

Thanks for the response, I really want to attend and of course I want to be transparent and honest. It's just I saw that question and wondered if it was even worth filling out the app if it auto rejects.

Read the top pinned sticky on the DoDMERB main section below to learn more about the process. Many candidates are disqualified (including my own two KP kids for multiple reasons) and ultimately win appointments with extra information and/or waivers. Best wishes.

The DODMERB physical was also key for when I retired from the military. When you depart (either graduate or before graduation), make sure to obtain you Patten healthcare record. Since DIEMS date is acceptance day (the day you join the USNR IRR), this was added into my military health record This set an entry marker as a comparison point for my VA claim.

Also get your full Navy record from DNS USMMA.
