I completed my initial medical exams in early September just before DODMERB system went down. AMI was requested of me and that appointment was also completed. My DODMETS account says case closed meaning it was all sent to DODMERB. Checking my account status through DODMERB, it says awaiting receipt of initial medical exam. I can see a copy of my records so I know it is there, but I’m not sure where my AMI went. I also am just wondering how much longer until I can get a status update. I’ve had an LOA to USNA since early September and with everything else completed I’m getting stressed and inpatient. Anyone else sharing my concerns or have answers? Thank you.

I have also tried emailing every different email available on the website with 0 responses.

Have you tried the live chat function? On the admissions page?

Your “inpatient” typo tells me this is really getting to you.

Take a deep breath. Then, go to the DoDMERB home page - no need to log in - look in Contacts on the left-hand side menu for the DoDMERB person you are assigned to (alphabet sections), if you haven’t tried that yet. Contact them to ask if they can see your AMI. For the last several months, they have had to do everything manually, and as the site came back up, have had to re-populate with data. Your candidate-facing portal may not show everything they see.

No matter what, even with an LOA, you may not know your appointment status until April or May.
There are hundreds and hundreds of candidate records for 5 SAs and multiple ROTC programs, whose normal processing flow was disrupted. There are not hundreds and hundreds of DoDMERB staff, though I suspect they have been laboring mightily.

Be sure to include the last 4 your SSN in your subject line so they can find you.

Just an FYI… My DS (a principal nom. For USMA and LOA) had exams on Sept. 22 and all sent to DODMERB in October with no remedial or AMi needed. He just got his DODMERB determination two weeks ago. It really is a mess this year. I fully agree that you should not assume that all is well. As others have said, reach out an confirm that DODMERB has everything they need from you and then prepare to wait. Once you know that all is in their hands you will have to wait for the process to play out, and this year it has been a very delayed mess (and I think DODMERB would agree.) The good news is that you started the process early, and even if they come back with a DQ there is still plenty of time for a waiver to be considered. Good luck and thanks for your willingness to serve!

Same boat as you. I have had an LOA for USNA since September and took my initial exam before the systems went down. I got all my AMI in two weeks ago and am still waiting for them to process it. Even emailed them after a week and got no response back.

I urge you to be patient. They'll get to our AMI at some point. I know a college freshman on an NROTC scholarship that is one of the only ones in their unit with an activated scholarship while DoDMERB was down. I know how frustrating it can be, I want my appointment in hand as well, but imagine being in college not knowing if something is going to come up that results in a loss of scholarship.

The same thing is happening to me (but I don't have an LOA, just a nomination), but my contact person won't respond, even when I use the correct format. Does anyone know who else to contact?

Some people are reporting response times of up to 2-3 weeks. They are no doubt inundated. Multiply your concern and proactive emailing by likely a few thousand emails like yours. They are probably triaging as they go, dealing with the most urgent issues first. If it’s a matter of administratively updating a portal, that may well come behind other candidate issues.

Just a SWAG at what might be going on.

For perspective, for the same size classes and application loads, in the past this was all done manually with paper, and there were no candidate portals with updates and statuses. You submitted your application by paper in the fall. You responded to any correspondence. You received either a TWE or a BFE in the spring. You sent a reply back. Those 20th and 19th C applicants lived through this and so will you - hang in there.

My DS was in a similar situation. He completed his medical in September. USNA received his qualified status right after. Then website was down.....when the site came back up, the exam showed back up but all three schools he applied to showed waiting for initial exam. He was able to get ahold of someone pretty quickly, but all they said was, "be patient, it will be updated." As of yesterday, all three schools are now showing Under Review (and there is another copy of his exam loaded).

All that to say, I think there is still quite a bit of work being done to reconcile all the manual workarounds they were doing with what is or was already in the system. So, I'm sure it isn't what you want to hear, but I don't think there is anything to be done except be patient. Good luck on all these final details and enjoy the remainder of your senior year.

Hi, my son is principal nom and well qualified (SAT, GPA Above average, 85% in class. , but his medical exam is NOT in the system yet. He went there to talk personally with the doctors who said it was sent last year and again this year. No response. Tomorrow is due date, I worry if he gets disqualified bc it is missing in the system. Any help to calm down this anxiety?

DODMERB doesn’t have to be completed by the 1/31 deadline. His file can be reviewed without it.

Technically he can, CONTINGENT on being fully qualified. Which includes medical. He also may not receive an appointment until later. Most will know by April, some will wait even into June. And? He may not receive an appointment at all.

He should still be working his Plan B. Solid back up plans.

Thank you for your support. I believe my post got the right persons attention because my emails have been answered and my status updated. I’ve seen so many people just complete their medical exams in December/ January and already receiving their status that it had me overthinking.
