Just wondering if we should be periodically checking portal on the weekends anticipating any updates, or if we should just enjoy weekend and go back to hourly checks on Monday 🫣

Thanks

Usually not a lot happening on weekends. But, that said, during busy periods (like now) some might attempt to catch-up on work on weekends. I think that is rare. I do think that a lot happens on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you look at the USMA appointments list (on this forum) you will begin to see a pattern on the dates of appointment. Field Force portals and MOCs get advance notice that offers of admission are coming. Lots of appointments show up in portals on Fridays (very early hours in portals.) But, this time of year that flow can change…

Thank you for the reply and information!

Once you have a 2Q (lacking medical) or 3Q letter, admissions has qualified you and things can move quickly. If admissions has you as a principal nom., winner of your MOC slate, or you have an LOA - you can get an offer of appointment at any time. The admissions committee meets more often during ā€peakā€ periods but Tuesdays are usually the day for those letters to come out. The different RCs in admissions will work through that first group (LOAs, slate winners, principals) then move to the National Waitlist top 150 by WCS (whole candidate score) then select the rest of the class. These are guides but keep changing because not all in that first group will be fully qualified, or may decide on another academy, or regular college with ROTC scholarship. It is like a three-dimensional chess board for admissions that keeps changing.

Great analogy.

To set things in perspective, while it feels urgent to applicants, USMA and Admissions are not an operational arm of the Army, but a normal administrative ā€œschoolhouseā€ training and education organization. Federal civilians there will work long hard business days, working authorized overtime after-hours only if the mission demands it. Assigned military will work long hard business days, after hours if absolutely necessary, but a tour away from a deploying, combatant organization is a time to live a more normal life, including enjoying family time and a regular schedule.

It’s the same at the other SAs. USNA is a ā€œshore tour,ā€ for AD Navy, a rotation off sea duty or operational duty. It’s a busy, fast-paced tour, to be sure, but nothing like an operational tour.
