Does hold status equal national waiting list? Alabama

Ds is on hold in MA we got a letter a month ago that specifically stated nwl. Hold tight

Same here. DS' file reviewed this week...hold status. As I understand, hold means others are more competitive than him and if others don't accept appointment, he may get one. We're from Ohio.

I have just been put on hold today as well. I believe that this means we are on the state list until April from what I have read. I applied last year and was put on the hold status around mid-March, didn't hear back until May about not getting in. From CA-45 btw

DS (PA) on hold - nwl since early January. Key date is 3/1. all applications will be in.

No hold doesn't mean you are on the national waiting list. My son was on hold last year, but got his acceptance before the May deadline. He was a recruited athlete so we were in touch with his coach who explained the different status names.

DS is a member of class of 2019. We are also from MA. Message me if you have any questions. Wishing you best of luck!!

My DS was just placed on "Hold" status. Does this mean that he was not selected?

From what I have gathered hold means you have done everything that needs to be done for now and now you are waiting for a decision. Denied=not selected. DS has been on hold for a few months and hopes to see his status change to Principal fully qualified in the near future. :) Good Luck!

How were you notified of "hold"? Did it just show on your portal?

yes - portal first. It happened within days of the nomination. A few weeks later he was sent a letter notifying him that he was on the national wait list.

According to Admissions, Hold means that they are not ready to offer you an appointment and that you are on the wait list.

Candidates can go from hold to principal appointment, meaning accepted; or hold- qualified not selected, or hold to national wait list. Clearing the national wait list will depend on whether or not other appointees decide to accept their appointment. If USMMA is what you really want and you aren't accepted this year, consider going to a prep school (NMMI) or community college, taking everything you would take at KP as a plebe, retesting (SAT & ACT) and reapplying again next year. Good luck!
