Does it matter any more?

DD was offered an appointment the same day she re-took the SAT. She was accepted with a 1200 SAT score but just got new scores today of 1320. Is this something she should forward to admissions just to have in her file or is it irrelevant at this point since she already accepted her appointment. Thanks!

She's in, she has nothing to worry about other than staying healthy and not getting into trouble.

Ask the RC if you have any doubts.

Although the new score will not affect admissions, it could be used for placement purposes, particularly math. If she has done well in calculus, the SAT math score will probably have little meaning. They would be looking closer at an AP score with respect to Jedi math placement.

If she has not taken calculus, the SAT score may keep her out of Rock math if her placement exam is borderline.

Good to know. She scores pretty good in math 670 on SAT and got a C+ in AP Calculus last semester. Managing her time better this semester and is on track to get a better grade. Much more time consuming then anticipated. Glad she's figuring that out now then later!

Wow! Congratulations on the appointment! If she selected USMA to receive a copy of her results, they're going to get it anyway. I think it's good for them to have it since it's a 120 pt swing. However, it won't affect her appointment. My DS has a 1470 and hasn't heard a peep yet. Enjoy!!!

Well its interesting because My DD's RC strongly suggested(as he worded it) she should increase her score. At that time she had an 1170. She sent him the 1200 which a very minimal increase and then the appointment came. Either 1200 is the minimum threshold or her strengths in other area carried her. Who really knows! Good luck to your DS!

Same thing happened to me last year! I got an LOA the same day I got home from the ACT, they don't care after the appointment or LOA. CONGRATS!

Just an update. DD ended up sending her RC an update on her SAT only because she worked hard to increase her score and didn't want it to go unnoticed. She told him she would increase the score and she wanted him to know she followed through.
His response was, Thanks for the update. Great job. She felt good about it.
You all are right, of course. An appointment is an appointment. End of story. Thanks

DD may wish to consider a one-on-one sit-down with her Calculus teacher to review what areas/concepts she is weak in & attack them in the math lab/extra help after school in order to strengthen these areas. It's similar to adjusting her workouts to improve core strength, push-up's, aerobics, etc. No need to go crazy or lose sleep over, but she needs to balance current schoolwork, remedial academics, & PE, along with just having fun by enjoying the rest of her senior year. For example, my DD sets her alarm reminding that it's time to go to sleep as homework routinely is being done til 0130 hours (& others stay up later). Go enjoy HS.

Recommend some Mom/DD alone time, (& Dad/DD alone time too) maybe a weekend trip together; it doesn't have to be fancy or expensive, just go & create some memories of the both of you together to draw on this summer. It meant a lot to my DW. The physical/academic fire hose will be turned on real soon; being able to prioritize & multi-task are skills that will be learned or sharpened very quickly. Your DD will be very glad that she put in the aforementioned extra work before USMA.
