Hello all I hope you are doing well during these times,

I am currently a candidate for the Naval and Air Force Academy. I just checked my DoDMERB profile and under the Naval Academy medical status, it says "Under DoDMERB review" but under the Air Force Academy medical status, it says "Does not meet medical standards." I was wondering if anybody can be honest and tell me what this means.

First, are there two review boards that review my profile, one for the Naval Academy and one for the Air Force Academy? I am asking because both academies show different status'.

Second, what does "does not meet medical standards" mean for me? Obviously it's a DQ, but does it mean that a waiver isn't possible? Is it likely that I will get DQ'd under the naval academy as well?

Your applications for SAs are independent of each other, but they both look at DODMERB results. Since the services all have different missions, operating requirements and gear, what DQs they will waiver often differ by service academy.

If you haven’t already gone to the DODMERB site, the primary source, and read everything in the menu on the left, that would probably be helpful.

As always, Capt MJ is correct. Go to the DoDMERB website; Hit Questions About the Process; Read the entire document and that should answer all your questions.

Some additions:

A = USNA = DoDMERB is reviewing it; USAFA = You are DQ

A = Incorrect. DoDMERB reviews all Academy(ies) applicants. The Academies only review DoDMERB DQd applicants, when they are considering them for a medical waiver

Thank you both! All my questions have been answered
