Does ROTC issue their own glasses? Different Vision?

I have pretty bad eyesight but correctable to 20/20. I wear prisms also but I don't need them. They help my eyes align because I have lazy eye. Hopefully I get my waiver.

My question: Does ROTC give their own glasses? Or do I bring mine? I just feel so dependent on my glasses....I also have contacts. Should I leave them home?

I don't know which ROTC branch you are attending, or if it is an SMC, however in AFROTC (non SMC) you wear your own glasses, and they do not pay for anything medically.

DS went to SFT via AFROTC (summer training), his bag drag list specifically said 2 pairs of glasses, and they did not supply those glasses.

I would not assume that at all. I would assume you will wear your own glasses. SMC is a maybe they will issue.

As a ROTC cadet, regardless of the branch you are not under their medical program like an SA, even if you are a scholarship recipient. IOWS, they aren't going to pay for your prescriptions.

So I MUST have glasses? Seems from what your DS had to bring. I only have contacts.....gulp.

I know it's best to have glasses for labs and training because of contact issues. Thanks.

My son has contacts and glasses. Other than a week that he was unable to wear his contacts, he is always in contacts but the unit has nothing to do with his eye wear or any of his medical stuff.

That was not what I was saying. Your original post said you are attached to your glasses, and would they give you glasses like the BCGs for an SA cadet.

My answer was NO, they will not supply you with glasses, you bring your own glasses. Just like your contacts. You are not under their military insurance program as a ROTC cadet/mid. They will not pay for glasses or contacts.

Take either, both, it doesn't matter.

You will not be handed glasses...bring your own...wear contacts or glasses. No one will care at first. by the time it matters you will know what you are allowed and not allowed to wear. You are thinking too hard about this.

Yes, I meant bring your own glasses. I have prisms so they are not really prescription glasses. So I would have to buy glasses. Thanks.

For AROTC your frame must be all black. No logo or design allowed. You buy your own glasses.

Show up with whatever you have. You won't need glasses right when you show up, and by the time you do need something, you'll have the appropriate guidance to make that happen.

If you showed up with nothing but a social security card, you would be fine. Seriously, don't overthink this.
