I'm currently a senior about to go into the academies and around this time is the time to register for ap tests.
These are the courses I'm taking right now:
Ap literature
Ap European history
Ap government

Are there tests that I should and shouldn't take?

I would take the tests for your Plan B/C/D schools anyway.

The Academy will give you placement tests while you're in BCT. I honestly can't imagine that they'd let you place out of the history classes (military history), etc. Maybe someone who has gone through it has a better answer.

Each Academy addresses them slightly differently. And some of it will come down to the Dept accepting them. I would take them and if they end up allowing a validation great, you can open up your schedule. Although a 3 is generally accepted for most to "Pass" the exam, most SAs will want to a 4 and mostly a 5 in order to validate a course. For items such as Chem and Calc you will take a validation exam for placement in what level of class you will take. Also, there are small differences between each SA on these too. Take a look at each SA wesbite as they address validation.

Here is a link to the USAFA AP course validation policy from the 2013-2014 catalog http://usafa.smartcatalogiq.com/en/...nternational-Baccalaureate-IB-Transfer-Credit

Specifically they would accept a
5 in literature/composition or language/composition
5 in European History
I do not see government on the list

The academy does not give credit for the course but rather you validate out of the course. This would free up your schedule to take other classes.
