Does USAFA factor in your intended major to your admissions package?

Do they factor in your intended major, i.e. Aerospace Engineering, then compare it to test scores (such as AP Physics) and extracurriculars related to that field? For instance, I have a bunch of political science extracurriculars however I want to major in Mechanical Engineering. Would this have any affect on admission?

Based on my DD’s experience, they do want to STEM courses in your HS transcript. USAFA education focuses on STEM, you get a engg degree on graduation. You can do whatever major you chose while at USAFA, but before you get there you make sure to excel in Maths, Sciences and take the toughest courses available at you HS.

I was never asked for my intended major when I applied so I would assume that it does not factor into the application that much. The only place where my intended major/ job after graduation came up was in interviews.

You only get an engineering degree if you major in engineering. Even the non-engineering majors are STEM-heavy, however. My son was a Behavioral Science major at USAFA, but had enough math background to get his masters in Statistics without much trouble.

Got it, learning new every time.

Everyone earns a BS, regardless of your major (yes, even those who major in English!). A SA degree is well rounded with emphasis on STEM. As mentioned, it can be leveraged into many different post-undergraduate fields.
