DOR mid-semester

I want to withdraw from the NROTC program and drop my scholarship. I am in the second semester of my first year in college, and my tuition for this semester has already been paid for by ROTC. If I were to DOR now, would I be responsible for tuition this semester or will I be fine and have no debts to pay?

You can drop anytime prior to the start of classes your sophomore year without any requirement to pay them back. The first year is always on them. It's not for everybody.

Curious as to why you want to withdraw. No doubt it's a tough program but thousands have completed it successfully. If there is some particular issue you're facing folks here might be able to provide some insight, especially since you can finish the semester and still not be required to pay back the scholarship. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Or feel free to ignore this as well, not that you need any permission to do so.

I realized I never truly wanted to be in the military, either for a short-time or as a career. My application for the scholarship and motivation for staying was because of pressure and encouragement from my parents, and the money the scholarship provides. I thought I would like it and be able to go through with the program or maybe even until the end of the year, but sadly, I'm somewhat miserable

The drop date to avoid financial recoupment is 01 September of your sophomore year. Schools that are on the quarter system may start later in September. If you wait until the first day of class in that instance, you're on the hook to pay back the money. You would have signed many forms when you started your freshman year as a scholarship student. NSTC 1533/135 is the form that identified 01 Sep as your obligation date.
