Double Major in 5 years

I am currently an engineering major with a very heavy course load, and, based on my performance thus far, it is looking like I will be able to get an extension on my scholarship for a fifth year. If I keep up the rigorous schedule, and start doing summer classes, then I would actually be able to double major in engineering and physics and graduate in five years. I know that midshipmen can get be double majors so long as they graduate in four years, but if I get an extension for five years based on my progress in one major, is it then okay to do a second major? My concern is that it will look like it took extra time to graduate because of the double major, when in reality, the course work for physics would be done over the summer, on my own time.

This is something you need to talk to your ROTC unit about. What did they say when you asked them?

One thing to consider is that the summer classes you take will not be paid by the scholarship if you have one.
