Double Nomination

I also received two nominations with the same code. (I only had the opportunity to apply for a congressional nomination) Still unsure what it means. I know my congressman had one of his nominations go to a sa because I am friends with him so Im just curious if it means there were two slots or? Also how would I know if I was a principle nom? I'm assuming I'm not since I dont know haha but still curious.

To find out if its a principle nom, I would ask your congressman or his office. I asked my congressman's aide and she told me the nomination I recieved was a principle nom. Getting two noms from the same code I believe means that you were nominated on two different slates by the same MOC. Read through this thread or use the search bar. I'm confident the answer is here somewhere.

Best of luck!

Here is an example of how weird this gets. Our son received MOC nom. Then he received Senator #1 & #2 noms. Cool. Really cool. Blown away. They just showed up in his portal. We had to do a little research to determine who was the junior vs senior senator based on portal coding. He gets a letter from senator #1 indicating he is one of 2 principal nominees (two slates open that year for that senator). Amazing. Then he gets the best call ever from Senator #2 notifying him of his appointment. Wait what??????(picture that commercial with purple powder exploding from a cartoon character’s head as in an ‘aha’ moment, but I didn’t get what the ‘aha’ was). My brain was really warped at that point. And to top it off, the other principal nominee (medically qualified) to USNA did not receive appointment. Head scratcher for sure.

Note to self. Do not overthink this or game this or stress or try to check mate your way through it. It is crazy. Yet structured. And so many moving parts that are required by law regarding appointments and nominations that it does not behoove the general applicant or mom or dad to dive down the rabbit hole head first.
