Downsizing Contracted AROTC

Great to hear the positive outcome Ohio.

Not to divert, but for lurkers and posters take heed to her post.

yes, they do all events outside.

As many have stated regarding this aspect train outside in every type of weather! You need to be able to run with cold rain spitting in your eyes. Grass being cold when you do sit ups. Come August the same is true, you need to deal with the heat and humidity.

You need to get passed the mental issue of:
My shirt is clinging to me and I want to pull on it to remove it from my skin as you are doing a sit up.
My face is wet and I need to wipe it as you are running.

Every action may create a lower score because your concentration is diverted from the task at hand.

Train outside and you will know how to adjust to these issues without harming your score.

Don't consider this a diversion at all. DS's school will only do events inside in cases of ice or more than 3" of snow on the running paths that has not been cleared. Its just the way it is, but PT is done outside unless the same conditions exist so these cadets have the opportunity to get wet(DS said biggest problem with rain is he wears glasses and vision gets blurred, he's tried running w/o them, but said its no better so he wants to invent "windshield wipers" for glasses :shake:). But yes, they were down in the mud this morning at 6am doing push and sit ups -- 50 degrees, mud is cold, slippery and no ones idea of fun. Hot showers for all when it was done:thumb: Glad I'm not doing the laundry:wink:

People never think about running in the rain, and how wiping their eyes or glasses will break their stride.

Remember, the unit will not look at weather when they schedule the test, and unless it is not within the spectrum it will be a GO.

Train in all types because when you do, you will be able to have a higher score if it is that "perfect" weather day.
