Hello! I am currently going through the DODMERB process for AFROTC. I recently had knee surgery to remove a plica (which is synovial tissue- NOT a tendon). After turning in the remedials for my knee, I was told I was disqualified for recurrent tendon disorder.

I did not have anything done to the tendons in my knee, and it does not say anywhere that it was a tendon issue.

I’m not sure what my next step should be- is it out of place to contact my DODMERB rep and ask for clarification?

Trying to get any doctors notes I need before returning to school. Thanks!

What are the actual remedial/DQ codes?

What are the actual remedial/DQ codes?

D226.71- History of recurrent tendon disorder, including but not limited to tendonitis, tendonopathy, tenosynovitis.

I looked over my doctors notes to make sure it wasn’t said I had any of these and it doesn’t. I could see them assuming I had tendonitis but I was was never diagnosed with it.

Maybe I am overlooking something as I know DODMERB would not DQ if it was not supported by facts, but it was known from the beginning of my knee irritation that it was the synovial tissue that needed to be removed- not interfering with anything else in my knee.

Hmmmm...I’m sure someone more experienced than I with this will chime in, but what I can offer is searching the forums for other people who have felt they have been misdiagnosed, and read those threads. Perhaps you will receive some general guidance.

I would wonder if there was any mention of tendons in your conversation with your examiner, or in the notes provided from you doctor. But you said you don’t see any reference in your dr’s notes.

Hello I am currently debating getting the surgery to remove my plica, but am afraid it will dq me, and cause issues as it has for you. Also how long ago did you get the surgery, i thought it's instant dq for a surgery within 6 months? Plica issues are usually caused by pattelafemoral pain syndrome, what caused yours and how did it get past dodmerb? This is honestly the most daunting part of signing up for ROTC, thank you for your guy's help.
