I am an aspiring AROTC student and I was DQ'd for history of food allergies. As a kid, I had a tree nut allergy, but not a peanut allergy (ironically, I'm addicted to peanut butter to this day). However, I have mostly grown out of my tree nut allergies, except for cashew nuts, which I am still mildly allergic to. I do take benadryl, if I do inadvertently ingest a cashew, but the itchiness from the reaction subsides. I have applied for a waiver, but I do not know the next steps, what to expect, or if I should start looking for an allergist. From anyone's experience, is it worth pursuing the waiver or would it likely be denied? Any insights or guidance would be extremely helpful.

Have you been awarded an AROTC scholarship? If so, the waiver was requested on your behalf. They’ll reach out and ask for extra info (AMI) if needed to make a decision. The wait can be LONG.
