So aggravated. I guess checking the box isn't worth it. I was DQ'd for a one time reaction I had when I was 8. They didn't even ask for medicals for tree nut allergy that is in my records so I had to disclose. Originally it was 2 nuts and grew out of them and I have two different based on a scratch and blood test which was 3 years ago. Need to do a nut challenge. I don't know if I should be proactive and get this done or not.

Very discouraged about this waiver process. Its not an automatic for me because I am in a ROTC program. Can't reach anyone at the school to see what I even have to do. This is for NROTC. I am willing to switch to Marine but being denied completely after three years in ROTC would be terrible.

Has anyone gotten a waiver for a tree nut allergy?. Our local army recruiter said that is all we have to proven is that it is not life threatening reaction. I also read depending on competitiveness and number of waivers, this may be the end of the road for me.

Is the dodmerb physical the end of a military career?

It's your three years that you spent. Do you think it's worth being proactive and get it done?

It's never an automatic for anyone, in a service academy, about to join a ROTC program or even after 2-3 years in a ROTC program. Switching to Marine's will not make any difference (I don't believe).

Has anyone gotten a waiver for a tree nut allergy?.... I also read depending on competitiveness and number of waivers, this may be the end of the road for me.
I've seen threads on this forum over the years where people were granted a waiver for a nut allergy.

The DoDMERB physical can, and often is, the end of the line. The question is (to me) do you want to quit, or do you want to follow this through and see what, if anything, might come from it?

I would further add, what would you do in combat if your platoon suffered some losses? Would you head for home, or attempt to complete the mission while getting wounded cared for?

I am going to get retested and fight for a nut challenge. Not giving up by all means. Just want to know options. A big dq'd isn't enough for me. I want answers and what I need to do for waiver. I don't know who to call or talk to. My college hasn't responded and don't even know if they are requesting a waiver or not. Beyond stressed but hopeful. My aspiration was to be a seal. My college paid for three of us to attend a seal conference in Coronado. I hope they see the fight in me. What is puzzling is I want to fight for my country with the understanding I could die but an allergy if severe which by all means is not don't even carry an epipen I could die to

You need to do what DoDMERB tells you to do. Since you can't contact your cadre, then try DoDMERB. See this thread for contact information: https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/dodmerb-contact-info.18368/
They might be able to point you in the right direction. If a waiver is being pursued they may know. If they don't know, then it's back to trying to contact any of the officers in your unit, or perhaps trying to contact brigade if the unit is still unreachable.

Always do your best to follow the chain of command, but if the CoC is not present, then I think pursuing other paths is justified in this case. Shows initiative too, although I'm sure you demonstrate that every day.

Hope your dreams come true.

Take a deep breathe first. Many folks get a DQ during this process. Are you on scholarship or applied for advanced standing? I am making an assumption they will request a waiver for you. Follow the steps they give you. More than likely you will get tested and the results will speak for themselves. I know many folks on this forum don’t understand why they DQ folks for things like this, but since I have the been there done that and got the T shirts I get it. I can’t tell you how many Marines got sent home the minute we arrived in theater for things they skirted the system with. It’s amazing what happens in a foreign environment and extreme stress. Answering yes was the right thing. You aspire to be a SEAL, you think they allow corners to be cut or dishonest answers? And remember even if you pass DoDMERB you will still have a precommissioning physical. It is much more in depth and thorough than what DoDMERB is and ultimately determine what designations you are qualified for physically.

AROTC has given waivers for tree nut allergies

You should get an IgE RAST test and nut challenge and submit them to DODMERB. Only documents submitted to DODMERB will be used in waiver determination.

In the process of doing just that. I haven't been asked for anything yet. I don't even know if my college requested a waiver or not for NROTC says Pending Waiver Submission/Review. What will next step say???

Next update will either say waiver approved or disapproved. Talk to your program about submitting a waiver after you complete your tests.

That - in a nut shell - is all anyone needs to know about dealing with DoDMERB.
