Dream job... CIA agent

Sorry @Emeraldcoastbeachservice but you actually made me kind of laugh. As @Capt MJ this thread is a decade old. My thought was how hard did you have to dig in the search to find this thread. My cousin has LOOOONNNNGGGG since retired. I mean, like years retired.

The other reason I am laughing is only old posters like me and Capt MJ will remember a poster I referred to in my post. UGGHHH!
YOU'RE BACK????? WE"VE MISSED YOU!

This is the best throwback....

I actually started reading it after thinking "not another one of these" and then saw I already commented.... a decade ago... and finally looked at the date.

The Nav sent me through Shipboard Firefighting school EIGHT TIMES and somehow that "cooked" the desire to be a fireman out of me.
I went once where I fought the fire. The other times I was the corpsman and just watched.

I did it for 24 years. I retired last July as an operations captain. It’s the best job ever for 98% of the time, and the worst for the other 2%.

I still wanted to do it until four or so years ago when my knees went from bad to worse. Even then I would have had to do EMT instead of firefighter at the local volunteer department. A buddy of mine from way back retired from the USN then started at his local firehouse and a couple years ago retired as the Chief. He now volunteers with Team Rubicon.

I kept going as an XO and as a CO because I wanted to emphasize the importance to my folks and I took my turns on the hoses just like everyone else but I can tell you that it did get harder and harder as I got older.
