I have always wondered about smoking and this total loss of crew on the Mt Hood. Investigators after the explosion said that there was smoking of cigs where there should not have been smoking of cigs. So a possible cause at worse.

My dad was running on the beach trying to get to his PBY as there was an attack on the other side of the island.

He was blown totally off his feet when the Hood exploded. Thought he had been hit by a bomb.

Luckiest guy on the island was the sailor who had just arrived on shore , under ships guard, for a captains mast or CM.

Most legal pot retailers walk the line pretty well when it comes to taxes. Why be greedy & not pay taxes when you risk killing the golden goose. And the federal government, inlcuding under uber anti-pot Attorny General Jeff Sessions, has wisely not taken any action to shut down pot operations in states that have legalized.

Plus the SAFE Banking Act of 2021 has already passed on a bipartisan vote in the House & is now in the Senate (https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/senate-bill/910/). If passed into law banking would be far easier for pot operations and the cash-only aspect of the business would be history. State-chartered banks & credit unions (not FDIC insured) already fill the a sizeable market for pot businesses.

For better or worse, alcohol (and cocaine, for that matter) leaves your system pretty quickly. Pot stays in your fat cells for a month or more, depending how much & hoiw often you use.
 
Parents/Students..........DO NOT use recreational drugs BEFORE & DURING your time enrolled at military schools or during active service, reserve time included. There ! Somebody said it, because some of you must think there is still an option to be stupid, commit a crime, and use drugs. Those USMA cadets that just got jammed up in Fort Lauderdale ? Their legacy is.......'hey remember what's-his/her-name that got kicked out and/or arrested for drugs'............and that will follow them for the rest of their lives. (Social media is a real kick in the ass for the new generation)
