Hi I am aspiring to attend the West Point School. I saw that if you have done drugs that is a DQ. Is Marijuana a DQ even if it is legal where you live? I have also done cocaine but not as much. I need it to get through the day. Should I just leave it off my DODMERB? Thank you advance for your advice

  • Marijuana may be legal in the states, but it is still a federal violation hence it is a DQ
  • Current use of cocaine is also a DQ and not likely eligible for a waiver especially if you are physically dependent on it.
  • You gotta be 100% truthful on the DoDMERB because eventually there will be a background check that is very thorough and if they catch any misrepresentation you will be out of your career.
  • Being marijuana free for a year may be helpful. I don't know the answer on cocaine. (Maybe @5Day would know this one?)

You should not lie on your medical history form.
Experimental drug use is typically not disqualifying.
