Anyone have any experience of injuries after being dodmerb qualified?

My son had his appendix removed while he had a pending waiver.
Bottom line is any surgery will put your son in a 6 month holding pattern.
After 6 months there will most likely be a remedial request for surgical records, discharge records, and a letter from the surgeon that says he is "released for full and unrestricted activities. for my son the request came 7 months after the surgery and it was another month until he heard back for the waiver(s). From initial exam to waiver granted was 9 months.
He should contact his DoDMERB technician and inform them of the date of surgery. They will tell him what to do.

He's not due to report until mid July for summer orientation for CGAS. His doctor expects him to be able to run track this spring. Just have a bit of apprehension dealing with Dodmerb again after DS cleared with them already. I wasn't impressed with the contractor they used not to mention it's a 5 hour drive one way.

I doubt he will need to go the a DoDMERB doctor. They are going to rely on the reports and tests that are going to be done by his doctor. Contact DoDMERB and find out what the process is to report an change in medical condition and if there is a minimum time required post surgery. If they require a 6 month recovery that could impact if he will be able to attend SA orientation, and being admitted to SA class of 2021.

My son, mentioned above, is AROTC. His ROO treated it as if he would get the waiver so it had no impact on his participation
He started AROTC in August and did not get the waiver until December.

Contacted Dodmerb and USCGA, waiting to hear back from both. One more hurdle in the process!

That's encouraging, thanks!
