Looking for thoughts. My son has what I think is a unique opportunity to go to Advanced Camp at the end of his Sophomore year. VT Army Cadet. On Scholarship. But the uniqueness is we have a family relative who father-in-law is in the SOF Green Bert s hall of fame. Part of the Son Tay Raif in Vietnam. And SOF his entire career. Retired now but still very active in SF training for Army. He want to mentor my DS as he has done for a few others and accelerate his training as DS wants SF or Psychological Ops. Anyone else ever know someone who jumped in feet first to ACamp a year early. Did they really need MS3 to be successful Thx.

Just one opinion here:
I’d recommend not accelerating advanced camp as his score from camp determines so much going forward. Unless he is so far advanced and you know that he will score very highly now, it may be best to let him learn more in MS3 and develop vital skills in a wide variety of areas, learning more leadership lessons before going too early… Just one thought, for what it’s worth. Good luck to him!

Thx we spoke of that as well. Seems now he may be able to train at Advanced camp but not be graded until his junior summer year. DS was also expressing the same concern

Well, if he gets to do it once without a score and then again with a score then I think that's a big leg up for him. He'll definitely know what to expect the second time around. Just one man's opinion.

We will k ow where we stand after Christmas break as DS an I will be flying to meet with this distant family relative. DS and I are just excited to meet a Hall of Fame Green Beret to hear his stories about Vietnam Son Tay raid for POW’s for which he was awarded the Distinguished Service cross by Nixon.
