DS Needs a waiver, what does it take?

Well the ups and downs continue. Smooth sailing and all was well until today.

My DS took his DODMERB when he was a SA candidate and passed. He was awarded an NRTOC scholarship and they contacted DODMERB. He was asked for medical records about something he had done when he was 6 and has been given a clean bill of health by his doctors.
His status was changed to pending waiver submission.
What do we do next, what are his next steps and what does his path now look like.
I know from reading the forum it’s not the end of the world and that he has to circumvent the waiver process on his own with out mommy and daddy calling for him.

He is reaching out to his NRTOC unit and asking what to do next.

Any advice or helpful info would be appreciated of how I can support him.

Assuming you've sent the records, then the next steps are to.... wait. It doesn't hurt to contact the NROTC unit and inform them of his status and ask if they have any further input, but don't expect too much from that.

My son received the NROTC scholarship. He was DQ'd at the time of the award (asthma). He reached out to his unit at his school and they responded:
"Our policy as told to us from our command is to tell you to contact the medical liaison’s office (OD2A) at pnsc_nrotc_medical@navy.mil."

He emailed them and they responded with:
"Your file was opened at BUMED on 12 Mar 19. It will likely take about 8 weeks for the initial review and sometimes longer if more information is needed.

If you would like, you can provide information related to your DQ.

1. medical (Dr. notes, tests, pharmacy records) from age 13 to present,
2. personal statement regarding physical activity- distance of running per week/pace, if you have any instances of shortness of breath, or require medications (inhalers, daily use medication, etc).

You can submit those items to DoDMERB for inclusion in your package for BUMED review. Submit to the DoDMERB help desk at: usaf.usafa.dodmerb.mbx.helpdesk@mail.mil."
