Anyone here hoping for a waiver and also applied EA? Did USCGA request a waiver for anyone yet? Or will a LOA be issued during this EA round (if they want you!) prior to the 23rd so a waiver can be started?

My daughter just got a conditional appointment today. She is awaiting a DODMERB waiver. No idea if any movement has been made on the waiver process.

Had they already put in the request for waiver or did you just find out?

No idea if they have requested a waiver. I just know that she has been DQ'd by DODMERB and is "Under Waiver Review". My understanding was that the SAs generally wouldn't initiate the waiver process until you had been giving a conditional appointment. That is just what I've seen others mention on these forums though.

Excellent. Under DODMERB Review means everything is ready to be reviewed should the SA request waiver, which they will now do for your DD. Fingers crossed for her!

How were you notified of the DQ? Who reached out to you about the waiver? Thanks

She found out she was DQ'd on the DODMERB website. We were expecting a DQ based on an issue and surgery she had as a baby. Nobody has reached out about a waiver yet. We can just see her status on the DODMERB page which says "Under Waiver Review". I don't think that means it is being actively looked at by anybody. I think that just means that DODMERB has pushed it off for the USCGA to consider if they want to.

From what we have seen, CGA is slower than other schools to schedule applicants for DODMERB. In situations where a student is applying to multiple SA, there is a high likely that the student has completed the DODMERB screening at the request of another school. Considering the different timelines of each school, and the fact that DODMERB is a parallel path, it is logical that a student has completed their screenings and DODMERB has had a chance to make a qualification determination on their records before CGA has moved to that phase on the candidate. A DODMERB determination of qualification would apply to all 5 SA. Should a student be declared DISQUALIFIED by DODMERB, it is then up to each school to consider a waiver on the applicant behalf -- and these decisions also move at their own respective SA pace and there is typically no communication to the student other than a portal status update suggesting a review is in process. The student cannot trigger a review or a waiver request and it is a process timed and executed by each school. It is possible to apply to all 5 SA and get a waiver from one school but not another.
