Early Action doesn't make a difference anymore. It was available for those who met a certain deadline in becoming a candidate, but most (not all) of those who received an early appointment were recruited athletes or those who are on ivy league academic level (so i've been told by admissions.) I believe no one has received a TWE yet unless they didn't pass the CFA. Only advantage to EA now is that in the email for those deferred, they stated that it shows our motivation to attend USAFA.
Again, this is my opinion. Admissions is impossible to figure out but we should all hear back when the majority do since we are now in the general admissions pool.
I was deferred EA (didn't have a nomination by 15 Jan). On 1 Feb 2014 I got a congressional nom and senatorial nom. On 5 Feb 2014 I received and accepted my appointment.
I was also wondering if anyone has received a TWE (perhaps we should start calling it a Brief Disappointing Message [BDM]). I was an EA candidate as well. Two grads in my immediate family, a nom and solid test scores, GPA and CFA, medically qualified etc. In addition, I was told by admissions in December that everything "looked good". Have an unsettling feeling that USAFA is going to mass-drop the denials at the very last possible moment--since that seems to be the way they handled the deferments. Not hopeful at this point as both of my sibs had their appointments by now.
