EA selection percentage prediction

I would say in a normal year, you would probably be good provided you had a decent ACT/SAT. Not sure how the rated board will affect the non techs this year, so who knows. Sorry I could not be more positive, but good luck!

CGPA: 3.4
PFA: 95.6
Major: Non-tech
AFOQT: aa 76, verbal 75, q 67, pilot 28, nav 15
Rated, but I'm counting on getting rolled over to non-rated
Commander's ranking: top third

I'm crossing my fingers for sure.

What do y'all think of this?

I think it will be a rough year for the Non Tech's, but since you took the rated route with your stats I think you will be good. Keep us updated on what happens.

I thought someone's Commander said rated was a one and done deal, as in you bust you're investigated for disenrollment. It'd be great if we could roll over to non-rated.

Your scores are good. Did your Commander personally tell you that you were top third? We weren't told ours.

Nighthawk,

You're able to meet this board not passing the AFOQT? What did your Commander say? Just curious.

Capt Ahab,

From another forum, what I was the assumption under was, IF selected for rated, but not accept it, than you were up for dis-enrollment. If not selected, they would than send you to the non-rated board.

I.E. Go rated get ABM. Decline the ABM, they can disenroll you.

Cadets need to understand that CSO, RPA and ABM also are given out. There is a thread here how a cadet got RPA, wanted pilot, and is now trying to figure out how to navigate his future.

I worry that many of these cadets will have buyers remorse next year when the rated board meets. I believe this year group is also the same year group the HQ AFROTC offered the newest ROTC scholarship ABM/CSO. To me that says HQ already knew 2 years ago from a manpower personnel need that ABM and CSOs were going to be critical manning issues.

Thanks for the input. Hopefully everything works out!

As far as that goes, our detachment said that if we do not meet the rated EA board, we would be rolled over into non-tech. Like Pima said, we would only be dis-enrolled if we did not accept it.

Additionally, my adviser told me during LLAB that if after going to field training under rated categorization, you would still be required to at least /compete/ for a rated slot. If you were somehow medically disqualified or just didn't get it by the time rated career boards are done, we're supposed to be allowed to still compete for non-tech careers. He said that was the plan as of now, anyhow. Which puts my mind at ease particularly as I was med-DQ'd for being too short for pilot/CSO.

I was told my commander's ranking during a term counseling. Around two weeks later, they sent up our packets, so for all I know it could've changed.

Commander's ranking: 1

Whoa. That's awesome.

Capt. Ahab,

AFOQT does not disqualify you from going up for EAs, but you DO need to meet the minimums to attend FT. So assuming I receive an EA, I would have to pass the AFOQT at some point before I leave for FT. :frown:

Best of luck to you in your second attempt. I think given adequate studying and the right amount of preparation, you'll do great.

The others who didn't pass at our Det did not continue to be in the program.

I don't know about you but when we took the AFOQT, they only told us about 2 weeks in advance. I just had enough time to borrow an AFOQT book and know something of what to expect before the test. Luckily I did fairly well, as did most of the others... but I would really have liked to study some more haha

Good luck on your second attempt!!

We were given the same time frame. Cadets went into panic mode. I also got lucky and recieved good scores.

The fact is if you want to go rated, there is NO couple of weeks to memorize the bold, but only a day.

If the AFOQT stressed you, IFS will be worse and just give it up now for UPT because it is 52 weeks of academic studying hell after mission planning and flying. You will be begging to go back to the college days of cramming for one week of finals for 5 classes out of 14 weeks in school.

Not trying to offend, but reading panic mood and studying for this exam with a spouse , a child and other acquaintances that never studied for a minute regarding the AFOQT only begs the question how they will handle IFS/UPT

Unfortunately I got a bit of bad news from my DS today that has forced me to revise my EA percentage guess. He said that his Cadre met with them today and told them that the EA's are in deed delayed and that it looks like only about half of them will get an EA. So with this new info I'm going to revise my guess down from 73% to 54%. Any other cadets hearing the same?

After re-reading the thread and seeing that some Det's have already made major cuts while others haven't, I'm going to revise my guess for the last time and say 61% nationally. I think that the Det's like my DS's that sent everyone eligible will be around the 50% mark.

It seems as though there are more cadets this year and with the atmosphere the Air Force is currently in, a low percentage would not be too much of a surprise. Our Commander warned us of an acceptance rate similar to that of 2011. Saying a lot of good cadets would be cut.

But one interesting thing a member of my Cadre mentioned was the fact that rated will perform better. "We're the Air Force, it's what we do".

Anticipation kills!

Did you meet with your Commander today? Or is this something they told you a while ago? We haven't been able to meet with ours yet, we'll hear from them tomorrow. The hope that we'll know who got EAs this week is slowly slipping away.

I met with one of my Cadre this past week. He mentioned it in passing. But my Commander has been hitting the low percentage since day one.
