Eagle leads to automatic nominations?

A family friend informed me that her son was working on getting an Eagle because it leads to automatic MOC nominations. I can understand how the chances of a nomination may increase with an Eagle but the friend was convinced that it was automatic. Has anyone else ever hear of this?
 
I'm going out on a limb because we are not at the applying point but I'm a researcher and so...No. I have never heard of Eagle Scout automatically equaling a nomination. It may be highly favored but not every applicant is (or can be) a Boy Scout. That basically means that no females would every get a nomination as long as male with an Eagle applied.

No. This is not a "thing."
 
There is no hard and fast rule that says someone with an Eagle Scout will automatically get a Nom. Your local MOC might have an internal policy that those with Eagle will get a Nom. I guess my question would be what happens if there are 20 kids with Eagle that year. Maybe their district is small enough this isn't an issue?
 
Not to take away from NavyHoops sage comments (as usual) but there is no soft and slow rule about Eagle Scout either. There is absolutely nothing that will guarantee an appointment. It's a competition after all, and almost all of the applicants will be of "Eagle Scout caliber".
 
I know a few members on my congressmans academy selection board, with the possible exception of being a recruited athlete there is NOTHING that is an automatic qualifier for a nomination. They look first and foremost at GPA, SAT and high school extracurriculars; other outside activities like scouting are considered and certainly look good. If a family member happens to be a flag officer or politician that might have some influence and having family members who are graduates certainly helps.
 
One thing you will find when applying to the Service Academies is well-intentioned friends/relatives/neighbors or even the mailman will provide all sorts of dubious 'advice' even when they NO idea what they are talking about. Being an Eagle Scout is no guarantee of a NOM. Sometimes what people do is try to extrapolate the resume of someone they might know into general statements. While each MOC has their own criteria for issuing NOM's, you are in a competition with everyone else applying that year. There is no single activity that guarantees applicants a NOM much less an appointment.
 
Well said time. Disinformation is rampant these days even on this website. News flash - if its on the internet it may not be true.
