Our daughter is scheduled for the DODMERB physical and she has a history of bilateral myringotomy and tube placement surgery in the past. The tubes are no longer in place and a paper patch was surgically placed over the sites. She has recovered successfully and there are no perforations present. Is the ear surgery an automatic disqualifier for the U.S. Naval Academy or an NROTC scholarship? If so, can we try to obtain a waiver? If not, can we get the disqualification reversed by any of the following: medical records, re-evaluation of condition or a letter from the surgeon. Thank you!

A history of myringotomy tubes, as long as they have either fallen out or been removed, and the tympanic membranes are healed, is not a disqualification and the reviewer on the case won't take a second look at it.
