I think everyone can relax. the page is fixed now! OK next crisis...lol

Mon 12/15 - THREE large white envelopes and ONE business size arrived

today. Daughter fairly flew up the driveway from the mail box with it all. Son has closed himself in his room to open each one of them and digest.

I'll update when he emerges.

NOthing here

No mail here from CGA. Does it come regular mail? Or are we waiting for UPS truck?

I guess it comes priority mail...

BUT there are some that received CGA advertising last week also..

I've also read we are looking for a large envelope,
a smaller envelope may contain a defferal to regular admissions....

I am sure someone will chime in and confirm

Hi All,
You are looking for a USPS Priority Mail, large white envelope.

Here is what came today:

One large envelope with the "Katrina" letter, but no CD or DVD.

One large envelope with letter about Coast Guard Academy Scholars program and glossy book about same.

One small (business size) envelope with a letter deferring darling son to Regular Action and calling for submission of updates to transcript, test scores, and leadership.

At least we know.

He is pretty deflated right now... processing. But, his heart and mind are fixed and I know that whatever happens will be for the best because he leans not on his own understanding but in all his ways acknowledges God who will make his path straight.

Best wishes to you all for a very merry Christmas!

yeah i think we all will be that way at some point. That is cool he got info on the scholars. they might send him to prep school.

Merry Christmas to y'all. I feel for him(and you), but I believe in Romans 8:28; it will be fine. Keep the Faith, time is your advocate. It is still very early...

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words.

"See" you here as we await the spring decisions!

Blessings!

I received two letters last week, one the infamous "Katrina" letter and the other a thank-you for visiting the Academy.

Has the Katrina letter been associated with deferrals?

the katrina letter is just a general advertisment.. i was accepted roughly two weeks ago and i recieved the katrina package yesterday
good luck to all

Report from Washington State

D got a deferral letter :frown: today and a large brochure on CGA Scholars.

Interesting .. I read the CGA scholars brochure.. I wasnt aware they would have to enlist to do this...So maybe she wont have to take all the CG stickers off her car after all
:shake:

See you all in February

LOL - my son has CG stickers on his Jeep, too.

We have a Citadel sticker, but he will wait until the bitter end to change!

LOL... I actually think the NMMI would be a great way to go first... she is only 17 until September, so an extra year to grow and get a bit extra school and military stuff should only help..... :)

She was pretty crushed.. but it'll be good..

now we go back to waiting for something from the USMMA, and she still have an interview with her moc on thursday. I am pretty sure she wants CG though

Hang tough, guys - many more appointments are coming during Regular Admissions.

 Deferrals are NOT rejections!

Hey guys,

I have been thinking about you all for two days. We received a deferral to regular admissions and it was a major disappointment to say the least, BUT, we have extremely high hopes and we are waiting on and excited for regular admissions appointments. The old saying "it ain't over till it's over"........and that won't be until what mid April???? So, we are hanging in until the end! My heart goes out to you all and you are all in our prayers. Just another note, we received only the deferral letter, we did not receive scholar information, nothing else at all. Wonder what the difference is , if any????

Hanging in there with you! We will be seeing you on this forum for a long time. I know how the disappointment feels. We are hanging tough.

Trying to distinguish the difference, if any, between those who were deferred to regular admission and those who have already received scholarship offers. A few questions: would those who received scholarship offers have higher GPA's and had priority over those that were simply deferred to regular admission? Or, anyone that did not receive a scholarship offer that was deferred to regular admission has better chances of getting an appointment still......maybe because perhaps their (those deferred) SAT and GPA's are slightly higher than those who received scholarship offers and still have a chance of receiving an appointment? I guess I need to know a little bit about what criteria is used to determine who gets the scholarship offers over those simply deferred to RA......that sill have a chance of acceptance and not rejection. Make sense?
