Early Action Admission

email

i to got one of those emails today. it said that my app. was going to be reviewed under early action instead of regular so they can review as many people as they can. i do not believe it qualifies for people who already have referrals or acceptences.

Was your application in on time for EA consideration? This is very confusing. Had they already sent you a letter? If you did not make the deadline for EA, this does not seem fair. If you did make the deadline...then the email is redundant because all who made the deadline for EA should be reviewed under EA...So, I wish you all the best anyway, but am still confused about this email business...

did your email mention anything about "deferral letters going out by 'mistake'?"

I was a few days behind the early action deadline.

It did not say that a defferal was being sent out by accident.

Thank you Jt, and best of luck to you! Keep us posted! :)

I wouldn't worry. That post from corbear did not sound like it applied to you(if it is real...:) Some like to joke on here.) Check your email and have your son check his; otherwise dismiss the worry!

I am not and in no way would joke about something like this, having done the application process and followed stuff on this and other sites I know how much it sucks when people dont say facts.

Heres my story, I applied by the early action date, I did not, however, have my Dodmerb done (I say it again, did not). A couple days ago, I got a letter in the mail asking for some more body measurements (I'm guessing this is because of not completeing dodmerb). Then this morning while i was at school I got an email that said some letters (at least mine) were sent out by mistake. The email said not to worry about the letter and that my application would be reviewed with the early action.

This afternoon I get home and theirs a letter, the letter says that my application will be reviewed with regular admission and I should know back by the 19th of April (I believe was the date).

So I am going off of the email, but other than that I havent really heard anything yet.

Keeping the fingers crossed...

Dear Corbear, Thank you so much for clearing this up. My son had also gotten the letter asking for additional body measurements (his was called a body fat determination form). We had it filled out and sent back right away. I had checked with USCGA and they had said it would take them a while to review the applications with that additional form and then we got the letter today. So...I am going to call them tomorrow and double check to make sure they did receive and review his application along with the additional form.
Good luck to you also with the EA review! Have a great evening and thanks again for your response. Thanks for not joking :) about this.

Several applicants currently being reviewed under Early Action were sent incorrect letters stating that they would not be reviewed until Regular Admissions...all these individuals received an e-mail this morning notifying them of the mistake and confirming that they are actually being reviewed under EA. Again, the error was with the confirmation letter which states whether an applicant is being reviewed under EA or Regular Admissions...all notification letters stating whether an applicant is being offered an appointment or deferred to Regular Admissions are correct.

Dear Objee! Thank you! your message clears this up. That means I will not be calling in the morning and bothering the USCGA admissions office :)
We now go back to plan A: make sure the high school sends in his first semester transcripts and any additional letters of recommendation/accomplishments to update his application. Here's still hoping :)

Hi Pmlutton,

To answer your question about Bambino...back in the day, when I played baseball, I used to be a smasher. Many homeruns, etc. so I got the nickname Bambino(aka Babe Ruth). It has stuck with me all these years. My son is a pitcher as well(and a pretty darn good one, at that) but has never hit a home run, out of the park - go figure?

oh my, joking about this would be very cruel...since we did get the letter he seems to quote. Anyway, sorry to be gullible, always holding out that shred of hope. Okay, now we re-group and keep our ducks in a row. Thanks Bambino (by the way, why "Bambino? " my son was born in Naples, Italy so it sounds familiar...) I am very happy that your son is getting in, this whole thing is such an experience! I will keep you posted on my son's progress. Is USCGA your son's first choice? Is there a chance we would see you at USNA indoc instead? What fun!
Have a nice evening!

During the Thursday "Women Only Chat" on the the 20th of Nov. one of the moderators (admission people) said that they had not received all the EA's yet. I thought that was odd and asked how that is possible, and it was posted that they EA's had to be in the mail by the 1st of November.....

I thought they had to be in BY the 1st of November, but I guess I wrong, but even with a mailing date of 11/1 I imagine that ALL the packages should of been received by the 20th.... but they know better then me.

Just wondering...

Those of you who have received notices--did your application status change on the DoDMERB website? One son's status changed twice (11/17 and 12/4), and his twin's app. status has not changed at all and still shows app. status as 8/22. My sons have been checking email, mail, and online nonstop so we're looking for any sign at all. I rushed home during my lunch to check mail, but nothing from CGA. Congrats to all of you who have good news--it must be so exciting! OH well, thanks in advance for any info.
