Early Action Admission

Seoul, South Korea
Location has no influence on appointment, though, right?

No it doesnt but I was just wondering where we all come from. Thats all

There were posts on facebok already too about guys getting their letters last month..... but they were up in the northeast, so their mail is quicker...

I'm in Washington State

congratulations to you!! It is so nice to see the waiting is over for some! The rest of us wait (my son got a deferral letter, so it will be a while). Congratulations again, we are kind of hoping for a resolution on the USNA appointment soon since he has the LOA so we wait on the whim of the MOCs...
Yay for Any Academy class of '13 (Lucky '13!)

i'm from jupiter fl, a little less then two hours north of miami, i got my letter of appointment yesterday.

Congratulations!! What was your letter dated? Are you planning on accepting?

definatly, we've already got the stuff together and we are mailing it in this afternoon.

Okay, here it is. A deferral.
Letter starts with: "This year we received a record number of highly qualified Early Action applicants, exceeding the number of appoinments we set aside. After a thorough review of your record by the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board, we have decided to defer your application to Regular Admissions. Historically, a significant portion of Early Action applicants will receive appointments later and your record will be reconsidered..."

Okay, my husband remembers that from the Admissions Brief at AIM, that they said about 60% of EA applicants who don't get EA appointments, end up getting them under regular admission...so we continue to watch and pray. See you on these boards for the next several months :)

:( But will keep my fingers crossed for you as well as me!

and a large white, priority mail envelope awaited us...It is now official, Appointment to USCGA dated 12/3/08. I hope the best for those of you awaiting word. Soon, you will hear something if you were in the EA pool, I believe. Good Lcck!!

Congrats....

Since its monday I am back to stalking the mail carrier.....

That is what I was just thinking. Dont they realize they need to run to our houses with the mail? LOL:thumb:

LOL...

between the stress of the holidays, waiting for mail and preparing for HS graduation I think I will be either totally gray SOON or bald from pulling my hair out.. :shake:

Objee said that the applications were placed into "rounds" based upon

date that application was complete.

For those of you who received a "you're IN" letter, please tell us what was the date of your letter that said "your application is complete"?

Comparing your letter's date to one's own "application complete" letter might help us figure out where our applicant is in the rounds.

Although, my understanding is that everyone who was an EA applicant will be sent SOME news one way or the other by Christmas.

I am glad its not just me that is impatient! :).. wouldnt they just make it easier to update our account... :) and quicker for us too..

Yeah it would be easier to do that.

mwbluebeard: that is a good idea. It would deff help us who still have to stalk the mail persons. ha

For those who got THE letter--did your status on DODMERB site change? My sons status changed once when he got his LOA to USMMA and once when he got his appointment, just wondering if it does the same for USCGA as he is an applicant there as well.

My son is home from school..... and on his orders he checks the mail RIGHT away and calls me at work....... (since the daughter is at basketball practice late)

She got mail from the USNA (she didnt apply there), also mail from NMMI (she did apply there)..

but nothing from the USCGA :( ohhhhhhhhhhhhh..........

What type of change showed on the site? What did it say? And, for those who received their USCG appointments, what changed on the DODMERB site, date or ????? Thanks.

OK, I hope this helps ease some of the anxiety, but I fear it will only add to the angst as y'all check and doublecheck dates. But, being a compulsive individual myself, I feel your pain...The letter stating the app was complete was dated Nov. 13, the letter offering the appointment was dated Dec 3. The DODMERB site has been changed to Quailified since Nov 6. I hope this helps:smile:
