Early Action Group Two

EA 2

Well, snail-mail just came. Nothing today. DS will keep checking his email...

I got an e-mail today. I really don't want to have to wait any longer. :(

EA 2

Well, DS got the email saying that although the majority of notification letters for EA 2 have been sent, the weather will delay the final mailing of notification letters until Friday, Jan. 14th. Obviously, we try not to read any thing in to being in the final group to be notified... Soo, hanging in there for a while longer:smile:

Same here. My parents are trying to reassure me that it's probably a really good thing. But, that doesn't help a extreme control-freak.

I got the email also. I am wondering if it was sent to all EA2 candidates or just those in the last group of 100. Anyone out there in EA2 who did NOT receive the email today?

DS got one as well. We have no idea what it means. Why would they let him know that the letters might be late due to the weather? Good.. Bad.. everyone get the same email?

DS got an e-mail too. It was vague. I am also wondering if the e-mail went to everyone or just the 100 who will be delayed. I'm actually a little relieved because DS is out of town this weekend and I was going to be looking at an envelope all weekend.
All the best!

Yes, there are about 400 EA2 candidates who did not receive the email, because their notices (appointments and deferrals) have already been mailed. Only the 100 or so in the last batch got the email.

Because the USCGA stated that everyone in EA2 would be notified by January 15th and they wanted to ensure that every candidate got their notice, or understood why their notice may be late.

Oh Luigi, please say that there are some appointments (and even deferrels) left for our EA 2 group of 100!!

Of course. Keep the faith. You'll know for certain in a few days.

R-Day is 165 days away.

Luigi, was this final batch of 100 the last to be notified because they were the last applications received by the Academy or is there another reason?

Anyone heard?

Oh my..it's awfully quiet! With over 400 letters out there, I would love to hear from some of those who received them. Please share your news.:thumb::smile::eek::frown::rolleyes:

Oh darn! I just realized there won't be mail delivery on Monday because it is Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.... ok, so we wait for Tuesday's mail!

Ozzy deferred

What a surprise to get the deferral notice in the mail today. We were expecting it next week after getting the e-mail on Tuesday night. My DS opened the letter 10 minutes before he was scheduled to leave for the weekend. What a bummer for him, since he is competing for "best dramatic play in California" this weekend (his ensemble won best play in San Diego County). I am actually happy that he is deferred because now he cannot let his guard down and let his grades slip.

I read a recent post that someone was sending in recommendations from other than math, english, and P.E. teachers. I don't know why we didn't think about doing this, but he just had the requisite recommendation forms completed and didn't request others. Does anyone have recommendations for how additional letters of recommendation should be sent to admissions?

One more thing, we will schedule an interview with an admissions partner. We just found out that a Coast Guard parent we met last summer at a Coast Guard Parents Association "Hail and Farewell" picnic is a partner.

Good luck to rest of EA2.

EA2 stats

Dear Objee,

Will you be posting the the EA2 number of appointments offered, average SAT score, average high school GPA etc.?

Wow, I guess my son was lucky, he received a phone call Feb 7th from the baseball coach and was told he made it and received his appointment paperwork on Monday the 10th. Hang in there, I think at this point in time, no news is good news.

Nice catch

Yeah, I'm still a little in shock that he got notifed so soon, I meant to write Jan 7th not feb 7th.

Just found out today and Im in! couldnt believe it when I got the phone call from the basketball coach and cant wait to get my actual letter sometime next week. Anyon ehave any advice as to what I should do now? And also I was wondering how much the academy looks into senior year grades once an appointment is recieved? thanks

Congrats to you and the other appointees. What to do now?

1)Keep up your grades; try to avoid senioritis. They do look at your second-half report cards and any significant fall-off could cause problems.

2)Stay out of trouble at school or with law enforcement.

3)Keep in good physical shape. Being on a sports team helps of course but don't take it for granted.

4)Enjoy your senior year responsibly.

5)Don't get too high or low emotionally. There will be a point at which you might question your decision to go to a service academy. For some it comes before R-day and many others after.

6)Stay close with family and friends. They will be the ones supporting you during swab summer and the next four years. Listen to your parents, coaches, teachers and people on this board who have life experience on their side.

Again, congratulations and welcome to the CGA Family!:thumb:
