EARLY ACTION recommenders submission date

The application must be submitted by 10/15, but you have 14 days after that to get in things like the LORs. From the USCGA website: "Required/supplemental forms and standardized test scores will be accepted for 14 days after the deadlines above."

Question: What are options if recommenders are less than diligent WRT timelines?

You may want to contact your Admissions Officer to see if there are ever exceptions, but my guess would be that your option is missing out on taking part in the early admission process and instead participating in the regular admission process which has a 1/29 deadline for test scores and supporting documents. I mean, it seems to me that your application is either complete for early admission consideration or it's not.

Please don't read this as my being unsympathetic. Relying on others to meet critical deadlines for you is so stressful! When my son (class of 2025) was going through his academy admissions process, one of his recommenders for one of his senator nominations missed the deadline despite having been asked in person if he'd agree to submit the recommendation and being provided the deadline and submission guidelines both verbally and in writing. Several follow-up emails were sent (two weeks out, one week out, and the day before). Unfortunately, these were COVID times and, although school started for the year in-person, it transitioned to remote for several weeks so my son was not able to follow-up with the individual in person. It was what it was. I was devastated. My son was way more zen (typical dynamic for us), stating he still had two more shots at obtaining nominations since there were later deadlines for the other senator and for our congressman and he was sure it would all work out.

The recommender eventually responded after the deadline was missed, was very apologetic, and was on task for the other senator and the congressman. My son still ended up with noms to West Point and the Naval Academy, though the CGA was his first choice and when that offer came through in early December, he accepted immediately, and did not complete his other academy applications packages.

Do you know if I can take the PFE after the 15th and still submit a score for EA by the 29th? Will my score be accepted?

You should probably take care of the PFE before submitting. But seeing as you have 3 days left, I don’t think thats an option anymore, unless your coach/recruiter can squeeze you through in a timely manner.

It seems like you are pushing for the EA deadline and I wonder why? Although the CGA may allow for things to come in up to two weeks later, it appears that you are really struggling to have anything but the basic application in by 10/15. If this is the case, will your package be the best it can be? Will your recommendation letters be outstanding if teachers are just trying to meet a short deadline? I don’t know your situation, of course, but for me, not planning so that even your PFE would be completed/submitted by 10/15 feels like a sign of unpreparedness on your part. Perhaps applying regular admissions would be a better choice for you than rushing to try to make the EA pool. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck. The CGA is a wonderful place. My son loves it there.
