Early Action Response Date?

Wow! that is certainly a first (at least on this forum). Was it an LOA or an appointment? Would it not be premature to give an appointment without an existing nomination? Would you mind sharing her SAT or ACT scores too. Thanks again! :groupwave:

Congrats to you and your DD! Seems AFA is quick on the trigger when they see someone they want. Is she planning to run at AFA?

Thank you! She's not a recruited athlete, she would love to run there but she's probably not good enough. Her test scores weren't fabulous, and we were worried about those but we think her class rank helped. She also had some great letters or recommendation from some Academy grads. I think she just had a really strong package. Of course, i think most of the kids who apply do and I'm not sure why things fell in her favor. We are thrilled they did and i hope that lots more offers come for everyone else. This process has been a long one as you all know. We know of one other applicant in a different state who received the same phone call Friday. I'm not sure how many people they called and if it was only kids with the Presidential nomination who got that call.

agree with comments, but one question

good comments about the process and agree with most of them. Experience with DS applications, which are EA(USAFA) & completed(including DODMRB) some time ago, for USNA & USAFA has been quite different in that the USAFA provides no feedback about status (admissions board review) or other simple status questions. The USNA on the other hand has provide much feedback and comments. Is this experience the same for others?

Interesting that USAFA is not providing information and USNA is. We have the complete reverse. I asked my DD as she been doing everything and she said she hears all the time from her Admissions person at AFA. On the USNA she has had some contacts and from USCGA nothing. She said she likes the USAFA person she talks with so much she cannot thank her enough. Of course its a long way to go before we hear anything, her act is only a 32 composite and her GPA is only 3.64 un weighted. The biggest downfall is she is ranked in the top 25% of her class. Nearly 65% of students take Ap or Honors classes, the top 10% are all getting better than perfect. I mention this is that the AFA person went over all this with her so she knew where she stood. I think she could have gotten if all off the web but I guess talking to someone really made a difference.

Glad your DD got a good admissions counselor at the AFA. My DD hasn't been so lucky. We went to visit and had a meeting with hers and it ended up being a group of kids because she showed up too late to have the individual meetings. My DD hasn't heard from her once without making a phone call and all emails went unanswered. DD just resigned herself to finding out as much info in other ways. Sad, but I guess it's luck of the draw. Glad to hear they're not all like that.

sent you a PM

jjima, it won't let me respond to your pm since I'm new. Not the same though. I'll post a few more times so I can respond to you.

Just wanted to post an update. I looked on my application portal this morning and I received a LOA! I was very surprised to receive a LOA as I am not a recruited athlete, but perhaps USAFA is changing things with this new early action program.

Thanks to all who have helped me throughout the application process, either directly or indirectly, thus far!

My daughter was called by the congressman's office today, where she interns, they asked her to come in for work early when they surprised her with the letter. It was so off the scale excitement around the house tonight.

Congratulations

My DD got her appointment call last Friday and her letter yesterday. We are all so thrilled we haven't recovered! Congratulations everyone!
