Does submitting an early action application by Oct. 15th bind you to the school? I didn’t think so but I know some other schools do that.

Early Decision = binding
Early Action = non-binding
Always read the fine print

EDIT: I thought this question was about what this meant generally with colleges. I didn't realize at the time that it was on a CGA thread. I defer to Objee below.

From our Applicant Handbook...lots of good information in there, which is why it's the first thing we recommend you read:

Early Action: Early Action is a non-binding (applicants are not required to accept an appointment, if offered) review guaranteeing if you submit all required application items by October 15th, you’ll be notified of our decision no later than December 23rd. If offered a full appointment, Early Action applicants still have until May 1st to accept or decline their spot in the class. If not recommended for an appointment, Early Action applicants may be reevaluated during Regular Admission. Applicants notified that they will be reevaluated are encouraged to periodically update their file with new information to ensure they will be considered for appointment at the conclusion of Regular Admission. Although not required for Early Action review, we strongly recommend Early Action applicants complete their Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) medical exam by November 15th.

Objee, do you have a direct link to the applicant handbook that you could share? Information is available on various web pages on the USCGA website, but I don't find a separate, downloadable, printable applicant handbook, even using the USCGA website's search function. The most recent document I can find through a general Google search is from 2011-2012. Thank you.

Once you select ‘Application,’ there are links on the left hand side of the application main screen and one of them is titled ‘Downloadable Forms.’ Click this one and you will see the handbook listed as an option on that screen.

Hope that helps!
